Italian Sausage Sub Recipe

 
 

We could all use an #Oberto Italian Sausage Sub right about now and we have just the recipe.

Ingredients:

2 Oberto Italian sausages

1 Tbsp. olive oil

2 bell peppers - sliced in ¾” pieces

½ yellow onion - sliced in ¾” pieces

Salt, pepper and chili flakes (optional)

1 cup marinara sauce

Sliced (or grated) provolone / mozzarella cheese

6” baguette per person

Instructions:

  1. Heat pan over medium heat.

  2. Add 1 Tbsp. of olive oil to pain and sauteé bell peppers and onions 5-7’ until just tender. Season with salt, pepper & chili flakes. 

  3. Remove peppers & onions from pan and add x2 Oberto Italian sausages. 

  4. Cook sausages over medium heat until just browned and warmed throughout. 

  5. While sausages are cooking: toast x2 6” baguettes in the oven or toaster & warm the marinara sauce. 

  6. Remove sausages from pan and slice on the diagonal.

  7. Open face baguette and top with: sliced Oberto Italian sausages, bell peppers & onions. Top with marinara sauce & sliced provolone (or mozzarella) cheese. 

  8. Place under broiler until cheese has just melted. 

Serves two, enjoy!
